Where to Find Cheap 80's Sunglasses

Cheap 80's Sunglasses

Cheap 80’s sunglasses were a phenomenon and I have the scoop on where to get some of your favorites. I mean they completed an outfit more than anything else did. What’s more is that some of the same looks from the 80’s is back right now in the area of sunglasses. White sunglasses are sooo eighties it's not even funny. The aviator sunglasses were not a fashion statement of the eighties, they were actually worn by aviators in the eighties, like TomCruise in Top Gun. I asked my husband recently if he remembered the coca-cola sunglasses. Where I’m from, they were huge! They came in all sorts of colors and were covered in the coca-cola logo. I don’t know about you, but I have to ask myself, how cool could it really be to wear a piece of clothing covered in a company’s logo. I just question that whole thing now. Then there was the ne’er-do-well wayfarer sunglasses…ok the “ne’er-do-well” I added, but the two tone, plastic sunglasses where the frame around your eyes was one color and the portion of the frame that goes around your ears was a different color are called the wayfarer sunglasses (I didn't know that until I began researching where you can find these sunglasses). You could spot these in almost any 80’s flick. Since neon colors were huge in that decade, that meant your sunglasses were most often in some day-glow orange or green or even hot pink. Another cool (and I use that term lightly) from the eighties were the oversized sunglasses with the burgundy or brown tint. The brown tint is a hit in today’s fashion world, but in the eighties it may have just been a lack or ingenuity or imagination-I don’t know. Off the subject a bit: I shutter to think of the waisted material used to make oversized prescription glasses worn by the likes of Judith Light from Who’s the Boss, also sported by Molly Ringwald in her many flicks and even worn by my mom in the eighties. O.k. back to the cheap 80’s sunglasses and where you can find them.

Where to Find Cheap 80's Sunglasses

I found several shops online offering the look for cheap. And in my research, I ran across the ever popular but all to forgotten, robot sunglasses! Tell me you remember the skinny, wrap around the entire face, robot sunglasses. They barely covered your eyes and I’m sure impeded your vision to an extent. Then there was the asymmetric sunglasses worn by MeshachTaylor in the movie Mannequin. Like so totally cool looking. And now an honorable mention for the shutter shades, oh yeah I think the proper term for sunglasses in the 80s was “shades”. With that said, Amazon.com has a stock of the wayfarer eighties sunglasses. Buy.com looked to have really cheap 80’s sunglasses for sale, check those guys out! Another place that I found was framesdirect.com. You may indeed score big at a thrift store. That may be a long shot, but well worth a look-see. Simply do a Google search by typing in cheap 80’s sunglasses and you will probably spot some that I did not mention in this article, there is a world of 80’s fashion just waiting to be explored online. So like totally dive in!
